It'd be great to allow HTML support, at least limited set of tags in both user input and email-templates.
Personally I would love markdown support as well. https://commonmark.org/

Markdown is a one-way interpreter (you can't convert rich text to markdown without losing features).
And frankly end-users don't care what's inside, they just want rich text.
