Ability to creating a subticket via an automation rule

The ability to creating a subticket via an automation rule would be very helpful. In our case, we need the ability, based on a custom field, to create a subticket for different departments to each provide their part of the event. All we have currently is the ability to clone a ticket, but that doesn’t let you see all the components under a single ticket.
